Confession of Sin

Leader: Most High God, you are the beginning and the end of all things. You rule in power and grace over all of creation and you draw all men to yourself. Because of your character you command us to treat the foreigner as a native and to love the stranger as ourselves.

People: But as our fathers did before us, we have closed our doors and fortified our homes against people made in your image. At best, we welcome those who are like us and recoil from those who are not. Lord, have mercy!

Leader: Christ tells us that what we do or neglect to do for the downtrodden, the outcast, the marginalized, we do or neglect to do for him.

People: Father, forgive us for not loving those you love. Let us hold loosely to what we own, using our homes and hearts to bring you glory and serve others, in Jesus’ name.

Confession of Faith

Westminster Confession of Faith – 26.1

Leader: Christian, what is the Communion of Saints?

People: All saints, that are united to Jesus Christ their Head, by his Spirit, and by faith, have fellowship with him in his graces, sufferings, death, resurrection, and glory: and, being united to one another in love, they have communion in each other’s gifts and graces, and are obliged to the performance of such duties, public and private, as do conduce to their mutual good, both in the inward and outward man.
