Hey Everyone my name is Andrew Newman and I will be taking over the worship internship which means I will have the opportunity to publish the worship blog each week.  I just finished my first year at RTS-Charlotte and I plan on graduating in the next two or three years.  I was born in Greensboro, NC and went to North Carolina State University where I graduated in 2009.  I am married to Meghan Newman who is a wonderful woman and just so happens to work at Uptown Church.  I hope to provide a blog that is formative and instructional in preparing your hearts and minds for worship.  I would love feedback as well so please email me with your thoughts and questions at amnewman87@gmail.com or post them on this blog!

“He showed how long-suffering He is. He bore with us, and in pity He took our sins upon Himself and gave His own Son as a ransom for us – the Holy for the wicked, the Sinless for sinners, the Just for the unjust, the Incorrupt for the corrupt, the Immortal for the mortal…O sweet exchange! O unsearchable working! O benefits unhoped for! – that the wickedness of multitudes should thus be hidden in the One holy, and the holiness of One should sanctify the countless wicked!”

Confession of Sin:

Heavenly Father, you have chosen us to be your people and you have delivered us from your judgment and wrath.  You have graciously revealed yourself to us and you have drawn us into the fullness of life found only in Jesus Christ.  And yet, Lord, we have chosen to ignore your abundant mercies and instead have built cities and erected towers in order to gain our own recognition.  We seat ourselves on our own thrones rather than bowing down at your throne.  Lord, have mercy!  Father, you have granted your people eternal life, a task already accomplished by your Son.  Lord, we desire to be with you for eternity, but we seek to make our own way.  We do not rest in the work done by Christ, but instead we labor in sin and long for your acceptance.  Lord, have mercy!

Assurance of Pardoning Grace:

I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.  You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
