The Bible speaks of Christ’s return in certain terms; popular culture does not.  In this week’s text, we are exhorted to remain on our guard against that which would poison our surety of Christ’s second coming. It can be relatively easy to believe in this during a Sunday morning worship service, but it gets far more challenging throughout the week. Though we may not encounter false teachers in the official sense of the term, we do encounter them in the literal sense.  There are innumerable voices that compete for our attention, the vast majority of which will slowly attempt to undermine our belief in the imminent return of Christ.

This week, I am going to break from my usual reflection format.  Considering how much of our life (for better or for worse) is spent online, it is essential to know resources that will foster your hope in Christ’s return and encourage your growth in grace and knowledge of our savior. Though this is a very limited list, I hope that the following links might be beneficial!

Confession of Faith:

WSC Q. 38. What benefits do believers receive from Christ at the resurrection?

A. At the resurrection Christ will immediately raise up in glory all believers; he will openly acknowledge and acquit them in the day of judgement, graciously rewarding them according to their works of faith,/ and they will enter into the full enjoyment of God for all eternity.

WLC Q. 88. What shall immediately follow after the resurrection?

A. Immediately after the resurrection shall follow the general and final judgment of angels and men; the day and hour whereof no man knoweth, that all may watch and pray, and be ever ready for the coming of the Lord.
