This week we are wrapping up our series on the Kingdom of God. We’ve seen how Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection brought this kingdom into existence. We’ve seen how God’s grace brought us into this kingdom. We even saw how we are called to live in this kingdom and what our actions are to look like as citizens. This week we will see what our place is in this kingdom. Our role, our job is to be soldiers. Our mission is to expand the kingdom and bring other sinners like us into it. We are called to be in the trenches, on the frontline, as the kingdom expands. We do our job by telling people about the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection and the forgiveness that God offers for their sin.

But this does not mean that it is all up to us and our strength. Jesus promises to be with us in the trenches (Matthew 28:20). As we carry out our mission, the Holy Spirit is the one doing the real work of bringing to life dead hearts. With that in mind, I want you to stop right now and take some time to pray for your unbelieving friends and family. Who do you know that needs to hear the good news of the gospel? Pray that God would give you boldness to share the gospel. Pray that God would make the gospel more real than ever in your own heart so you can share the gospel in a way that is winsome, humble, and joyful. Pray that God would reveal to them their sin and open their hearts to receiving the salvation that He offers. Pray that God would give you courage and boldness in the mission that He has given you to make disciples for His kingdom.
