Applying to college is both a fun and stressful time. The excitement and anxiety of starting a new stage of life mix with the stress of filling out applications and taking ACT’s and SAT’s. And then the college brochures begin pouring in. It feels as if every college you express any interest in sends you a flyer every week for the next five years. I remember going back home my sophomore year of college, and my parents were still getting brochures from colleges I had applied to. The amount of time, energy, and money that universities put into recruiting is incredible. The send brochures, conduct college fairs at high schools, make phone calls to homes, and host students for visits.

As members of the Kingdom of God and God’s ambassadors on earth, we have the privilege of telling people that they are welcomed into the Kingdom of God. We are God’s admissions representatives, going out to tell the world that they have been accepted. In our passage this week, Jesus calls the first disciples, telling them that he will make them “fishers of men.” After He calls them to Himself, He sends them out to bring others into the Kingdom. This is a calling that each of us share with the disciples. Once we have been brought into the Kingdom, God puts us to work bringing others in, and there are no admissions requirements for the Kingdom of God except turning to God in humility and repentance.

What are you doing to bring others into the Kingdom? Who in your life needs to hear that they have been accepted despite their sin and brokenness?
