Our Mission

We exist to know God, love people, and make disciples.

We exist to know God

We know God by turning from ourselves, and our own efforts, and finding rest for our souls in Jesus. By resting in the finished work of Christ, we receive a new identity as sons and daughters of the King and we are filled with His Spirit to move out into the world.

We Exist to love people

An authentic experience of God’s love in Christ leads us to share that same love with others. Jesus taught that this love happens in word and deed, both proclaiming the truth of Jesus and caring for the needs of others.

We Exist to make disciples

A disciple is one who follows Jesus, and disciples grow spiritually through dependence on God’s grace, study of His Word, and seeking Him in worship and prayer. Our church is made up of disciples growing together in community that is centered all on Jesus.

Gospel-Centered Community

In a world desperately searching for answers, and in a culture of ever-changing requirements for righteousness, only the gospel of Jesus can bring peace and rest. When this gospel takes hold of individuals it creates community, and to that end, Uptown seeks to be hospitable to the skeptic and a home for those exhausted by the empty pursuits of the world.

Discipleship & Evangelism

Community shaped by the gospel will naturally move outwards. As we are transformed by looking to Jesus, the Spirit uses us to love our neighbors. Together we are constantly sharing this message with new people while helping one another grow in Christ.

Faith & Work

As followers of Jesus we submit to Him and see all of life under His rule. Our vision for vocation is that God cares for the world through many different roles and occupations, and He uses His people in those places for the good of others. We see all of life as worship and ministry.

Mercy

Because we have received from Jesus the greatest mercy, we are called to be people who are merciful. In a city marked by need and division, we want to love those around us through ministries of word and deed.

Joy-filled Worship

We worship with great joy because through Christ we have both present rest and a future hope. As God transforms the whole of us - mind, will, and emotion - we respond together in worship through praise, confession, and prayer.
